Privacy Policy
Science Inquiry Studio (Sinq.Studio) is a classroom platform for teacher-guided science inquiry activities, used by teachers, students, and school administrators. We take classroom privacy seriously. This policy explains what information Science Inquiry Studio collects, how we use it, when we share it, and how to reach us with questions or requests.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to run a classroom learning platform:
- Account information — your name, email address, role (student, teacher, or admin), school, and sign-in method.
- Class roster information — student names and class memberships added by a teacher or imported from Google Classroom.
- Activity content — activity names and descriptions, AI assistant settings, chat messages, uploaded files, and artifacts generated during activities.
- Basic usage information — recent page activity and timestamps, which we use for classroom management and troubleshooting.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to operate the platform:
- To let users sign in and reach the student, teacher, or admin features that match their role.
- To let teachers create classes, assign activities, and monitor student progress.
- To let students and teachers create activities, chat with AI assistants, and generate learning artifacts.
- To maintain, secure, debug, and improve the platform.
Google Classroom Data
When a teacher chooses to import a roster from Google Classroom, Science Inquiry Studio asks for permission to read that teacher's Classroom courses and class rosters. We use this information for one purpose only: creating or updating classes and student memberships in Science Inquiry Studio.
We do not sell Google Classroom data, and we do not use it for advertising. We do not transfer it to anyone except as needed to provide the roster import itself, comply with applicable law, or protect the security of the service.
AI Providers and Tools
Science Inquiry Studio's learning assistants are powered by AI models and tool services. When an activity calls for a response, chart, simulation, presentation, or other artifact, the relevant messages and instructions may be sent to an AI model provider or tool service to complete that request. We send only the information needed to complete the requested task.
Student Privacy
Science Inquiry Studio is designed for classroom use under teacher oversight. Teachers decide what student information is entered on the platform and should follow their school's policies when doing so. Students should not enter unnecessary personal information into chats or artifacts, and teachers should remind their classes of this.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain account, class, activity, and message data for as long as the account or classroom use remains active, unless deletion is requested or a shorter retention period is required by law or school policy.
Teachers, administrators, parents, and guardians may request deletion of an account or of specific data by contacting us at the address below.
Security
We protect information with access controls, HTTPS encryption in transit, and operational safeguards. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep classroom data safe.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time as the platform evolves. When we do, we will post the updated policy on this page with a new effective date.
